The remnants of Hurricane Helene made a significant impact across the state of South Carolina and the Old 96 District region. The impact of this storm with its very heavy rainfall and high winds produced many unpredicted events in our five-county region with many residents and businesses being displaced.
There are trees down and power has not been restored to the entire region yet. Resident and visitor safety remains a priority for this part of South Carolina. Transportation across the region to move essential goods into the towns and cities has been impacted.
We urge you to take precautions when traveling and to make sure the highways are clear and passable. Drivers should use extreme caution when encountering downed power lines and trees or water on the roadway. Do not drive around barricades.
We look forward to welcoming you to our region in the very near future.
